Welcome to WorldvewToday.com. This is a website dedicated to helping people develop and maintain a more consistently Christian worldview. I believe that the Bible speaks to all of life, not just Sunday morning. A worldview is a framework we can use to tease out how our faith affects the day to day issues of life – both the headliner issues of life and the more mundane issues of life. Thank you for coming along with me on this journey.
I thought it might be appropriate to start this Blog with a write up on exactly what I believe a worldview is. So before we start a conversation about worldview related issues. Let us first agree on what a worldview is. According to www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/worldview, worldview means “The way someone thinks about the world”. But what actually goes into a worldview? To help make sure we are all on the same page as to what a worldview is, I have divided up a worldview into what I believe are the key components of a worldview, and mapped out how they relate to each other to form a complete worldview (Yes, I might be an engineer at heart) (See Fig 1).
On the left-hand side of the diagram are the worldview inputs. These are the key elements that drive most people’s worldview, also they are the main thing that can act on a worldview to change it. On the right-hand side of the diagram are the outputs of the worldview, these are the natural and logical effects of a worldview.
Of all of the elements of a worldview “Values” are one of the most fascinating because they are both a driver of a person’s worldview and an output of it.
Other noteworthy things to point out is that worldview outputs (such as “friend choices”) often times circle back and have effects on your worldview inputs. This is why it is important to choose your friends carefully (Proverbs 18:24).
As I write articles I will try to point out the worldview inputs and outputs that the particular worldview issue being discussed touches, and how it relates to the worldview as a whole.
